CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

We are pleased to announce this Call for Abstracts for the 12th International Conference on LCA of Food “Towards sustainable agri-food systems”, taking place in Berlin from 22nd to 25th September 2020.

The call for abstracts is now open until 31st December 2019

You are invited to submit abstracts matching the following conference topics:

A) Novel trends & developments

  • Designing sustainable food systems
  • Novel trends / developments in food production systems
  • Implications of smart food systems (digitalization and block chains in food systems)
  • Impacts of novel food processing technologies and Artificial Intelligence

B) Sustainability evaluation models

  • Evaluation models and how to deal with normativity
  • Sustainability assessment & evaluation approaches in food
  • Value scales (e.g. SDGs) in food eLCA, sLCA, LCC & LCSA

C) Food logistics & retailing

  • Disruptive logistics of novel food systems: rethinking food miles
  • Grocery retail bankruptcy or evolution?
  • Direct and indirect impacts of food logistics

D) Challenges in modelling & data

  • Tackling complexity of food systems (modelling, cyber-physical systems, LCSA)
  • Opening the data on food for LCA (databases, tools and software developments)
  • New models for food LCA

E) Methodological challenges

  • Impact assessment in sLCA
  • Biodiversity impact assessment
  • Soil quality impact assessment
  • Assessment of animal welfare in LCA
  • Assessment of health & well-being, nutritional LCA

Contributor (submitter) grants all the publishing rights to the organizers of the 12th International Conference on LCA of Food. The organizers of the 12th International Conference on LCA of Food “Towards sustainable agri-food systems” have the copyright to use the abstract in the congress for scientific purposes without any prior notice to the contributor / authors.
Author's Guidelines

When submitting your abstract, please follow the guidelines given below:

  • Submitter’s contact details (Full first and family name(s), e-mail, country)
  • Presenting author’s and co-Authors’ details (Full first and family name(s), e-mail)
  • Affiliation details: Institution/Company/University, city, country
  • Abstract type: poster or oral
  • Abstract topic: please choose from the list of topics (A to F)
  • Abstract title: add the title in the specific field
  • Abstract text: please fill the abstract form and keep in mind that the abstract should not exceed 4000 characters (spaces and tables included, one figure additionally is allowed); please follow the following structure: Problem and aim, Methods, Results, Discussion/Interpretation, Literature
  • Keywords: up to 5 keywords may be provided (at least 1 keyword is required to go ahead with the submission)

Abstract Submission Process

Stage 1: Abstract submission

To submit your abstract for an oral or poster contribution to the 12th International Conference on LCA of Food “Towards sustainable agri-food systems”, please fill in the abstract submission form under the link.
Abstract Submission

Once you created your account, you can upload your abstract by filling the form. The author account is needed for communication purposes. Abstracts submitted by fax or e-mail will not be accepted. Presenters can submit a maximum of two abstracts. All abstracts must be submitted in English. Please do not submit multiple copies of the same abstract. All abstracts will be forwarded to the Scientific Committee for review. Once submitted, your abstract can be amended or withdrawn until the deadline: December 31st, 2019. The accepted abstract from registered presenting authors will be published in the “Book of Abstracts” of the 12th Food LCA conference “Towards sustainable agri-food systems”.

Stage 2: Full Paper submission

Upon abstract acceptance for oral presentation, authors are expected to submit a full paper (max. four pages plus two figures of tables) for the official proceedings of the 12th International Conference on LCA of Food “Towards sustainable agri-food systems”. After a peer-review process, the accepted full papers will be published in the proceedings.

Confirmation of receipt & notification of decision

You will receive email confirmation that your abstract has been received, indicating the allocated abstract number. Please refer to this abstract number in all further correspondence regarding the abstract. Please, contact the Organizing Secretariat (Lcafood2020@dil-ev.de) if you submit an abstract and do not receive confirmation that it has been received. Only the submitter will receive all information concerning the abstract and will be responsible for informing the other Authors of the status of the abstract. After the review by the Scientific Committee, authors will be notified about results by mid of April, 2020. If an abstract is accepted, the presenting author must register and pay the registration fee.

Copyright & Legal Obligation
All information in the abstract submission, including authors’ names, affiliations, authors order of listing, and the content of abstract, will be used in the congress publications. The contributor carries legal obligations of the abstract; any violation to a third party’s right will be the responsibility of the contributor him/herself. By submitting the abstract, the contributor (submitter) grants all the publishing rights to the organizers of the 12th International Conference on LCA of Food. The organizers of the 12th International Conference on LCA of Food “Towards sustainable agri-food systems” have the copyright to use the abstract in the congress for scientific purposes without any prior notice to the contributor / authors.
